We know
that our clients don’t always have the time to enjoy a luxurious makeover, in a
professional salon, on a regular basis. Although it’s best to visit a salon if
you’re planning a major hair colour overhaul, there’s no reason why you
shouldn’t be able to dye your hair at home if you’re strapped for time.
It’s
important to be aware that home hair colouring can cause a lot of damage if you
don’t get it right. Visiting Hairdresser Manchester
or Hair stylist Manchester
is a smart decision! Here are our tips for using a home
hair dye kit, so you end up with hair that looks like you walked straight out
of the salon! Well…almost!
Tip #1. Use a Recommended Dye
It’s
easy to get overwhelmed when looking at the hair dyes available in supermarkets
and beauty stores today. Which brand is best? What colour do you go for? Should
you opt for permanent or semi-permanent dye? The best person to answer all
these questions is your Hairdresser Manchester City Centre.
If
you’re planning to colour your hair at home, they can advise you on the best
brand and colour of dye. Semi-permanent dye is always advisable since it’s much
easier to get out if you make a mistake.
Tip #2. Always Take a Patch Test
Even if
you’ve used the same brand of hair dye in the past, it’s important to do a
patch test at least 24-hours prior to dying your hair, so you know how your
skin is going to react. People have been known to become allergic to hair dye
out of the blue after years of colouring their hair. So it’s always better to
be safe than sorry! The hair dye that you use will contain specific
instructions for conducting the patch test.
Tip #3. Just Dye Your Roots
Root
touch-ups are done at home most often since it’s a quick and easy job to cover
up your regrowth. If you’ve got regrowth and want to colour your hair to cover
it, then bear in mind that there’s no need to re-dye all of your hair. This is,
unfortunately, one of the biggest mistakes that we’ve helped our clients fix at
our Hair
Design Manchester City Centre. Only put the dye on areas that
need a refresh! You can invest in a tint brush to make it easier or get a
friend to help you.
